I paid for my suppressor, last one in stock, and all shipping. I've been waiting 6 weeks for the Form 3 to be processed, so suppressor can be sent/transferred to my local FFL/SOT. I'm asking how long it takes, on average, for a Form 3 to be processed. Also, should I expect the dealer to periodically check status with the Feds and give me and my FFL/SOT an update as to the progress of the Form 3? Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

Form 3's can take as long as they take .... thats why I dont buy anything from my local dealer unless it is in stock ... I hate waiting for any transfers, plus my local guy will let me shoot stuff while waiting on the form4.

Just got a F3 transfer back yesterday. I mailed it in the 15th of Mar, ATF received it on the 19th, approved it on the 31st, mailed it out on the 2nd of April and got it back on the 5th.

Cheers,

My package of three recently took 6 weeks before the Form 4's were able to start their process.

Patience is the only answer to happy Class Three participation.

That and having a good SOT....I'm using the best one in my area and there is still room for improvement.

Yup, this is my first Class 3 purchase. I plan on shooting a lot more on my property. The suppressor should quite things down for my nearest neighbors. Never had a complaint and I don't want any.

pwc001,

Don't worry, about the only thing they need to do now is learn how to look for and READ packing slips in or attached to shipping boxes. This would help tremendously as I would not have bugged the shit out of Bachelor Jack for 2 weeks after my last 2 suppressors arrived and were in the safe. They have made a 100% improvement over the 16 and 18 month timeframes on my last two.

Re: Need help understandng Form 3 processing!

I'm dealing with this issue right now. Form 3 submitted on Feb 12, as of yesterday morning I hadn't heard a word. Having been through this process three times, I thought something was up so I called NFA branch.

According to ATF agent I spoke to, they never received my form 3. Almost two months wasted. I called my dealer and they faxed and mailed it in again with cover letter explaining situation. Hope it expedites the process but I doubt it.

Bottom line - don't assume the wheels are in motion just because you/your dealer sent the paper work in. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and call NFA to make sure they have at least received your stuff.
