I am going to buy my first high end scope soon. I have a GAP 260 rem with a 20 moa base that I am going to mount it on. While picking the rifle out was relatively easy for me, I have had a horrible time deciding on the scope.

Thanks to some of the Hide members that shoot in Houston, I have got to look at Hennys, PR, NF, S&B, USO and a few others. In all honesty my 40 year old eyes are having a hard time distinguishing optical clarity differences between the scopes, they are all fantastic.

I guess what I am more interested in at this point is a review of mechanical reliability and usability. I googled the hide forums for reviews but they were almost always about new scopes. I would love to hear about scopes that have been dragged around competitions and which ones hold up to adverse weather conditions, which ones get dropped and hold their zero.

Thanks in advance.

Have you seen this video?
US Optics tough

All the scopes on your list are rock hard tough and will take more than you dish out. Just pick the scope that has the features you value. You couldn't make a bad choice from that list if you pick the scope with the features you want.

Agreed, you cant make a bad decision out of that list. Make a priority list of what you need and then want and choose out of that: reticle type, magnification range, turret style, click value, elevation adjustment, etc. All those manufactures will give you top notch contrustion and optical quality. You should be able to google up the photos of all those scopes being used by active military on the gambit of rifles from 5.56-50 BMG.
