My uncle served in the 101st, 11 Bravo in Vietnam from 1970-1971. He was at Camp Eagle, but said he spent most of the time working out of Firebase Evans. I just picked up a set of 1911 grips from a laser engraving shop. Long story short, the engraver put the wrong image on the grips. Yea, I know....the image is a skull with wings but it also has a detailed unit name: "Charlie CO. 2 BN 506 INF 101st Airborne" I asked him if he knew what his exact unit was, he laughed and said..."pffftt...fuck...I would have to check my DD214..." These grips are a gift that go with the gun that I will give him on Father's Day. He has no idea why I asked. Would any members know if this could actually be the unit he served with? This image was one of several I supplied to the engraver....yea..I know. At least it does say "RVN 1970-1971" on the bottom. I may order another set, I could use a dremel to knock the charlie co. stuff down. All I know is that the AO was in the north near Hue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Doug

I checked my DD214 and it doesn't say that I was in the 1st Cav. It shows my last duty station as US Army Hospital.
If he ETSed out of RVN it might show his Co and Bn. otherwise it will only show time overseas.
Maybe get grips with 101st patch and call it good.
I am sure I will never forget what Co. /Bn. I was in. I didn't think anyone ever forgot that. Regards, FM E Co. 5/7 Cav.
