I have tried to search but keep striking out.

Need to see if anybody here can offer actual experience regarding the CRATOS for short range < 300yd weapon mounted, detection and I.D.?
How would the image compare to 25mm HALO or REAP IR 35mm ?

The CRATOS is 640x480 17um FPA @ 60hz
FOV = 21* Horiz x 15.7* Vert.

Any info, pros/cons would be appreciated.

Thanks,
T

It is one of my favorite thermal units. Definitely a sub 300 yd thermal because of its 1x optical mag and 2x digital. As a clip on it is happiest down around 3 or 4x. ....... initially developed for use with a EOTECH/AIMPOINT with 3x magnifier. L3 was trying to go after the DOE market but it is a program of record with DOD as well. I use them often with LPVO down around 2x. It has a very wide FOV as you noted and a large eyebox/display with full color. It can be dimmed out to NV levels and is usable with NVDs. 60hz and a very respectable run time on 2 lithium AA. Does have a colimated 35mw IR laser that can be turned down to less that 5 mw in training mode. There are both fixed and FTS mounts avail.

ONLY technically rated to 556 because that was what the contract spec'd....I have run with 6.8 with no issues. Terry feel free to call 512-699-9510 if you'd like to discuss specifics or email [email protected]

Standard and FTS [black] mount in that pic.
Also have a very usable tethered remote.

Thanks. The only diff I see between yours pictured and the ones I am looking at is that yours have hinged, flip-up front cover versus the elastic corded covers.

Oh yeah....that's a personal pref thing. I pull those stock covers off and replace with those 10 dollar Chinese Amazon ones.
