anyone on here use steiner binos for hunting? my buddy has 10x56 nighthunter XP's and they are awesome in low light. im looking at the 10x50s or 10x56 predator C5's. any comments on either of them? is there a better pair of binos in that price range?

Re: need new binos

Meopta's are awesome for low light. I have steiner's and they are my truck/junk binos. When I head to the woods, I grab Meopta's. You can find them used pretty cheap if you look around. I compared them to my friends Swaros and his were a little better at dark but not worth the extra $'s in my opinion. The Steiner glass is crap, at least in mine. I hope this helps.

ive read the glass in the fusions is terrible, maybe those ppl have spoiled eyes? tansinator- what model steiners do you have? maybe your pair has different glass than the ones i have looked through. i have been very impressed with the my buddies steiner nighthunters.

Steiner Predators. I can actually see better through my all my riflescopes at daylight and dusk than I can with the Steiner's.

Exact opposite with my Meopta's. None of my scopes are as clear and allow me to see as late as the Meopta's. You could spend $1000 plus more dollars and get Zeiss, Leica or Swaro, But unless you are guiding and glassing all day long I do not see the need.

Nighthunters are also big and bulky. Meopta's aren't light by any means, but they are pretty compact. Just order some from Cabela's and if you are not happy with them send them back. I don't think you will though

Re: need new binos

dang just looked at some reviews of the meostars and seems like they are really quality binos for a good price compared to the big names. i may order a pair from swfa depending on their return policy. where are they made? should i get 10x42's or 10x50's? i do a lot of low light hunting at dawn and dusk so i figured the 50s might be good. i dont like the extra $ though.

Re: need new binos

My vote is for the Swarovskis but only because of their performance. I have the 10x50's and the glass is fantastic.
Yes they are not light, and yes they aint cheap but dang they are sweet. They bring in light and permit you to see better than your naked eyes at dark 45.
Good luck with your choices.

what binos are you talking about?

i have had a pair of 10x42 vortex diambondbacks for the past two yrs. i was very pleased with them at first, but my eyes have gotten used to better glass and i am not that satisfied with them these days. can i expect $600 worth of better glass from the meostars?

Re: need new binos

Canon image stabilizer binoculars are the clearest binoculars I have ever used. Worth a look. The stabilization makes spotting a breeze since you don't need support to see the vapor trail. Canon is known for their exceptional camera lens glass and the binos are no exception.

Re: need new binos

I bought a pair of 10x42 Minox from Doug at CameraLand. Side by side with Swaro 10x42's, they were slightly darker, but the difference was so minimal at dawn/dusk as to be (IMHO) negligible. I got mine on an open box sale for $200. Doug's comment on the phone was that "Minox is a little know gem in the optics world" or something close to that. I've hunted pronghorn, mule deer, and coyotes with these already. They are light clear and comfortable. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Doug was a pleasure to do business with and I would recommend him to anyone. A phone call to talk to someone who really knows his stuff is cheap, and he takes care of 'hide members.
