Rifle Scopes Need new glass for Savage 308

I am loking to try some F class comps this year and want some new glass. I have a 4x16 Primary Arms on it right now. I think my max yardage will be 600 yards. Whats my best bang for the buck at $500 or less? I need ideas and help withthis as i have never spent anywhere close to this much on a scope and there are so many to choose from. Everything else on my build is complete and this is where I am lacking. I have been looking at Vortex. Whats your thoughts? Thanks

I have this exact scope on an AR....It's a really decent scope...I would second that.

You didn't say if you were looking for new or used? If you don't mind used...you might be able to find a Sightron S III in 6-24x....might be slighly more than your budget...but they are very nice scopes also.

I will +1 the Sightron comment. Take a look at the SIII line, you might find something that fits the budget. I have one and it was excellent glass for the money.

I have 2 of the Vortex vipers in the link. I really like them for punching paper. The wide-plex model was discontinued but camera land has some and they are a steal at $280.

Wow! $280. That is a steal. Anywhere else i can got to read up more on them? Am i going to notice a big difference between the Primary Arms and the Vortex referenced?

I've purchased a few things from Camera Land...they are first rate!

I don't know anything about Primary Arms branded scopes...can't help you there.

The Sightron SIII is a little more money than $500 but a very nice scope if you want to save a little longer.
For under $500 I would look for a used leupold VXIII or Vortex.
Both have lifetime warranties transferable to you, and if you look around you can find some pretty good deals.

I'm in the same boat, my savage is complete except for the glass. Know anything about millett?
