alright guys i need help on making a decision on what scope to get for my savage 308 24 inch barrel i am considering the bushnell elite 4200 my concern with this is does it have enough adjustment to get me out to 1000 with a 20 moa base. the second scope i was looking at is the bushnell elite 6500 4.5-30x50 i know this scope has the adjusment but is a little more expensive. the third scope is the millett lrs-1 this has the magnification and adjustment range im looking for and is alot cheaper but how is the quality on these scopes i've read mixed reviews on them but they are all older reviews my question is have these new scopes been improved. any help is aprreciated guys

Re: need opinions on a new scope

If you check this forum you will find many scopes to look at as well as several you mention. SOme good, some bad. Your chosen topic has been visited a lot lately, that is, opinions on scopes and whats good and bad etc ad nauseum

alright well i tossed the idea for the millett to many negative reviews so now im trying to decide betweent the elite 4200 or the elite 6500 i will be shooting normally only out to 750 yards but i would like the capabillity to shoot out to 1000 my question is with a 20 moa base will the 4200 get me there or should i jusy pay the extra money and get the 6500 which has twice the adjustment

The specs for the 4.5-30 read only 50 MOA total adjustment range, that means 25 north 25 south.
Look into the Sightron SIII for comparable Long range scopes in the same price bracket.

Re: need opinions on a new scope

i checked out the sightron and i didn't like that it does not have exposed turrets so basically im set on either the 4200 which is priced around 600 or the 6500 which is priced at about 750 my question is will 50 moa of adjustment get to 1000 yards with a 20 moa base

Re: need opinions on a new scope

alright well i decided on the 4200 i don't regulary shoot out to 1000 so i think it will suit my needs for now if i have the desire to shoot out to 1000 i'll grab my 300 win one more question though what size butler creek caps will fit on this
