So I have searched thru the past posts but didn't find anything since 2012 so wondering if anything has changed. My father in law just handed down his late fathers 270 rem 700 to me. This was used to kill many deer and elk and I want to carry on that tradition. I'm thinking of using a bullet in the 140 gr area but I like the idea of pushing a 130gr over 3000fps too. What powder are you guys finding the best luck with and around what charge? Looking around online I see a lot of H4831. Any chance Varget or 4064 is a decent powder?

I have had my best luck with 55 gr of RL-22 and 130 Sierra Game kings. Powder fills right to the base of the neck . Shooting from a 20" sako 75 finnlight.
Haven't tried 4064 but loaddata.com says you can get 2929fps with 47.1 gr charge and a 140 bullet. (26" barrel and max charge. (52,000 cup) its starts at 41.3 gr
