New AI AE Mk 3

Hi guys,

I just got a new AE Mk3 from Mile High. 20 inch with break. It came with the standard break and not the magnum break. It does not bother me either way but wanted to say something since people have said the Magnum break is now standard. I will try to get some pics when I get a chance.

It had to go back for a very minor issue that would not effect the operation of the rifle at all. Just figured since it was new it should be 100 percent. Mile high has been excellent in helping solve this issue. They really went above and beyond.

Mostly posting this because I have seen a number of posters say the magnum break is a new standard. At least on mine this was not the case.

I got it in Black. Green was my first choice but they did not have any green folders at the time. I figure it's going to get scratched and painted anyways so it was a non issue.

It is being shipped back to me. I should have it again next week. I was going nuts waiting for 10 days here in CA.

I had it in my hads for 2 days before it got boxed up. Mile high has already turned it around repaired. They were awesome and took care of me.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the switch to the magnum brakes happened some time (at least one or two production runs) after the introduction of the MkIII...and you just wound up with a rifle from that time frame.

One of the threads for the cheek screws was off. I could have gotten a larger screw, but then I would have not been able to get the Ai thumb screws.

I tested it out and it would have operated fine with 1. Since it was new I figured it should be done right.

Not yet. Piked it up on Sunday. It shipped back on Tuesday. They received it on Fri. And it on its was back to me.

I got a ss 5-20x50 waiting. Been thinking about something better for it already. I could put anything I waned on it, but seeing Premiers used for the price of a night force F1 is very tempting.

Did you get a break? Was it the standard or Magnum?

Let me no how it shoots, how it feels, and just the satisfaction of owning one of those machines. I'm a about to plunge for one my self in a .260.
