Athlon may have cracked the code - ED Glass, reticle and what will hopefully be under $1k street price. The only thing that is disappointing is the weight.. 4lbs!

Yeah - this almost has to be the Shrubnell OEM. Which isn't a bad thing. Also looks like the pricing is decent.

Hope it's executed better than the Bushnell. I've read reviews fraught with disappointment. I do like the 2 Cronus BTR's that I currently own and will probably pick up an Ares ETR in the summer. I'll also recommend AthlopOpticsGuy here on the Hide for anyone thinking about trying Athlon.

Not a surprise considering Athlon is made up of former Bushnell employees/engineers.

Most of engineering is done by the chinese these days not just for Athlon but for many other brands ,Athlon just sets the specs they would like to see designs the reticles to incorporate and at best works on mainly on industrial design -> exterior looks not internals , branding and packaging .

Most of their bottom to middlle range doesnt even have much in terms of exterior design as they are just like chinese 'originals' with minimal generic features like turet knobs and similar.

That's pretty cool! I'm interested, I have one of the Bushnell's without the reticle, it's not bad, but would love the reticle.

    none of your business
I fiddled with this new spotter quite a bit "the prototypes at Shot" It turned out very good I think!

This scenario would happen frequently and it was hard to show everyone because the booth was almost constantly busy...

The Cronus Tactical is a lot like a regular FFP scope in that it has a diopter adjustment which "focuses the reticle" at the very end of the eyepiece. So what would happen is 5 out of 10 guys who looked through it would pretend that they liked it, with a "uh what's up with this scope expression" while peering through it. I'd walked over to them and would say, hey there, you won't be able to appreciate the glass or the reticle unless you focus the reticle with this dial here. Ah, I get it now they would say or at least I could see their expression changing to mean that. Once they did that the smile would come.
