Gunsmithing New barrel, new crush washer???

Hi all

Upgraded my barrel and before I throw my new one on the AR15, can I reuse the crush washer which is about a year old, or do I need a new one?

My .02 is always use a new washer except for emergency.

Always thought they were one time use. But that said, I've reused some that weren't torqued hard to begin with.

Yep, one time use. I have used them twice. If you crush them all the way, sometimes the hole in the center gets smaller, and they can be hard to remove.

Or, time the brake with peal washers and rockset. Not sure if this is just a fun rifle for mag dumps or if your serious with it. Many here may argue (shocking) but peal washers with rockset or red loctite stands less chance of deforming the crown and give a better chance for accuracy.

I stopped using crush washers a while back since I found these., a pack will usually cover ya for a few muzzle devices.. no affiliation.

These are the only way to go. https://precisionarmament.com/product/accu-washer-system/ Each shim is ground and all are different thicknesses. You only use 1 shim. Individual replacement shims are a couple of bucks each.

If its a break for a suppressor mount you should use shims for alignment purpose.
