Has anyone ever had a new bolt installed in place of their old bolt? I was wondering how much this would cost or what has to be done to do this. I am thinking the lugs have to be machined/ lapped to fit the action and the bolt face has to be headspaced to that of the old bolt?

    Correct.

It will need to be headspaced, or at least checked, you may get lucky.

Try PTG for the replacement bolt or use a pull out remmy ( I assume that is what you are working on ).

If you need a pull out remington, send me a PM, I may be able to help you out. I can loan you a set of headspace gauges if you need them.

at that point, may want to true up your action altogether. pointless to lap and everything if your receiver lugs are not true to begin with...
