My first custom rifle. Was built by Charley Robertson @ scorehigh gunsmithing NM. Shot 5 shots 9/16" out of the box with the first factory ammo I fed it. Cant wait till tomorrow to work up a load. Only complaint is it took one shot to zero. (dont know how he did that) This is the best stick ive ever owned. Thanx Charley

Re: New Custom 700

I like it a lot. Had it on this 06 before all the work and once I figured out how to use it, it works like advertised. Just hold on proper reticle and pull out to 600yd. Thinking about upgrading the turrets to match my load once I get one dialed in. Very clear even at 25x.

Re: New Custom 700

Tell me something, arent shots # 5,6,7 "the node" we all look for? Your group shows 54 grains of powder. Why did you choose that instead of say.. 53.2 grains?

Awesome stick BTW.

Re: New Custom 700

You guys beat me to the punch, I will be using 53.3gr. That 54gr load was 135GR SIERRA AND RL-15, just a curiosity thing I did before doing the ladder test with the 110GR Barnes and 10x. I'm planning on doing the same test with this bullet to get a better BC for longer range. I cant believe how all the ballistic data matched up. I tried very hard to find a flaw somewhere. If you look in the reloading forum (powderin it up) you will see my last pic of the ladder test target and how I came to this conclusion.

Re: New Custom 700

Another scary thing is that I will need to come right .613MOA to zero windage and that is right where the scope was set(I moved it left .75MOA before I shot the ladder) when I got it back from Charley Robertson @ ScoreHigh. He used a machine he designed to mount the scope for zero runout on elevation and the ballistic data I used to zero @ 300yd matches my varmint reticle perfect as you will see in the aforementioned photo from the reloading forum. Holding POA with the 500yd reticle I had a drop of 10.36" as exactly calculated for 550yd with this round @3500fps. Too cool.
