Movie Theater new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Can't watch it... I tried twice (both episodes) - never got through them....love the Colorado eye candy, but every time 'dad' shows up I find myself mumbling "douche bag" under my breath.

His trips to the basement to visit the "lowly worker bees" that don't know what they are doing makes me grit my teeth.

Lol...I was wondering about the same thing when I watch that.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

The show is ok if you DVD it and use a lot of fast forward. I want to know if the daughters chest was purchased like the mom's was. Because they look a little enhanced to me. Kind of strange for a minor.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

The fact that one of the Barret brothers paid a 15 year old to carve on his rifles - the finish was CLEARLY different from the other when done - and it wasn't evne a decent engraving job - it was a 15 year old's work - not "bad" but these are the Barret brothers - they probalby knew someone and wanted in on it.

I would never do business there.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

I just watched last nights episode that I recorded. wouldn't that lot of guns be worth a lot more then $50,000. the guy had a barrett, a few full auto m16s and I think the Thompson was also full auto. the guy had 45 guns or something that's like only $1000 each.

why would that customer buy a used barrett for $12,000, aren't the new ones going for like $8,500.

did any one notice that the wood barrel that they shot at was put together with duct tape..

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Watched Monday's episode last night on dvr, and I'm officially out, what a joke and a family of clowns! Seriously through a little fit for doing a pink 1911? Not like this is something new genius I see em all the time. Oh and did you guys notice that these Fucktards presented the pistol to the plastic woman in a hot status with hammer back and safety off? AT a general pistol course no less, WOW! there's something wrong with the wife's face, I'm thinking she's had a stroke sometime in her life. And as mentioned above, in what alternate universe is a barret cost 12k? Fucking retards

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Mom Renae's a mutant with a worse boob job than Tori Spelling. What was he thinking marrying her and on top of that getting an "insta family"? Laughable. Thanks Discovery....

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Going to buy stock in ladies tank tops. Pretty much the only thing they put on. If they keep blowing things up someone is going to get killed, I always stand a safe distance of 10 ft from Explosion.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Rich was an instructor for Jeff Cooper back in 90's when I took some classes with him. At the time he was extremely helpful and fun to be around. I wonder how much of all bs is all set up by the discovery channel? Haven't watched the show, and don't know that I will since the whole sons of guns thing, but I'm guessing without all the tv crap He's still the generally good guy that I remember.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

ok im tired of it caught up on my dvr and id rather watch the bucktooth chick over trapies and her booted at least RJF chick legal. telling people the guns worth wayyyyy more than their worth, used 107 for 12k they nuts, that bar going from 20k to 10k and that sliver like its 10oz of gold.

if my wife, who i am willing to say i know nothing but if she my wife, she says their full of it well.....

out of the mouth of babes

get my point,

i understand this a tv show but a fictional show come on feed the gunsmith a god-dam pack of twinkie and put RJF back on

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

OK So we're on week 3 and I think the gunsmiths really lack professionalism - I mean anyone should know how to do the things they are doing...

The picatinny rail mount -I'm not even a gunsmith and I had already figured that one out...

However, Dad is getting used to the camera's and he's turning out "OK"...

And the fact that they are doing this wounded warrior rifle - good move - watching it now...

Switchblade sent me a pistol grip bipod front end for an AR, going to put it on my baby's AR-15 as she has a minor disability such as this guy from Iraq - ...

talking about the RJF chick that works the office = bucktooth because she id

107 = m107 Barrett .50 before they built the M82A1 = pick up a gun book

trampies = under ages should have ass whipped for being as fucking slut

my wife's an idiot doesn't know the difference from a 1911 ans a fucking high point because she thinks Obamas a winner, almost caused a divorce

"Out of the mouth of babes" = a quote frome the bible all men should pick that book up

and on the show thell say a 10k gun is 20k then thell pawn star bid it down back to 10 or thell sell a used gun for well over new price = again grab a gun book.

not that hard

O and by the way "never tust a woman who's eyes are too close together, eagles, and hawks are. and they'll swoop down and kil you ass from behind" = My uncle said that 1st wife proved that to be true = look at the pic above.

HAHAHA,

I saw the same thing, that house is just past Golden off I-70, like 15 minutes from Wheat Ridge.

this is the first episode I saw and I was like, WTF ? That house is right off the highway.

Don't get get me started on the $10k to mount a couple of Walther pistols to a bumper.

I was especially impressed by the fast and efficient way they cut that Army kid's barrel down... really the hacksaw was a nice touch, it shows your true gunsmithing chops in a way most can't translate very well.

...and it would have been easier and save a step to just throw in cut-off insert instead of hacking it off. Wonder (doubt it) if he indicated the barrel after jacking it in every direction with a hacksaw.

That submarine house is only 10-15 mins from his shop, WTF is with the heli? So stupid.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

My wife even caught that last night, wondering why they used a hacksaw to shorten the barrel.

I'm out too. They should have named the show Project Gunsmoke, because it reminds me of that model show the wife watches, but with over priced guns.

By the way, I have a Smith M29-2 I'll sell for $1500.

I know this is a bashing rant, but I have an honest question. What do you shorten a barrel down with? I have ZERO gunsmithing experience, but as long as you crown the barrel right and finish the muzzle, does it make a difference?

I do think I've seen Larry Potterfield use a hacksaw to cut a barrel on one of his video's. Not saying he is a qualified gun smith, but he did the same thing.

Watch this video, at 2:20 in there I cut the barrel back and then go to thread and crown.

A hacksaw is simply put, Hack !

And PS, I am not a machinist or Gunsmith just too this class, with no prior experience. They have a lathe in their "shop" you get tools to to squarely cut the barrel as shown.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

At first I wondered about the hacksaw but when you put it on the lathe it should smooth it right down...

I still don't think that smith they have knows what to do, maybe some basics..

So yeah you could hacksaw it but not when chucked up in a lathe. You would have to re-indicate it again (assuming he did it in the first place or at all for that matter) and a cut-off insert would make your first cut you're only cut save some tapering but that assumes the guy can measure. You never want to apply random forces to anything that's chucked up in a lathe. Doing so not only maligns your piece but will also screw up the finish where the chuck comes into contact with the piece. Hack-sawing is fine but do it in a barrel vice with 360 support not in a lathe's chuck with only three small points of support.

</div></div>

For sure he shouldn't have cut it in the chuck, but for me this is really the main point.

It can be done with a hacksaw or or an abrasive wheel for that matter, but it demonstrates a certain lack of sophistication as a machinist. Had he done the separating operation completely on the lathe or even partially where all but the last few thousandths of material needed sawing, he would have assured himself a reference surface perpendicular to the center line of the bore for cutting the recessed crown. It would have reduced the number of steps, reducing the amount of machining time, reducing the cost.

By using the hacksaw (I doubt it was a perfectly straight cut) he now has to face off the muzzle to get that surface perpendicular to the center line of the bore. It's just more steps. Attention to detail, understanding the sequence of operations in machining, and having the foresight to reduce the number of steps in that sequence without sacrificing precision is what separates a machinist from a hack. IMHO

That said, I'll probably keep watching it because it has boobs and guns... I'm shallow like that, and easily entertained.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

If I had to guess, the hacksaw thing was totally for TV. The real barrel, for that rifle, was probably machined.

After reading the reviews on that shop, I bet it was the real barrel but I bet the whole build/show and the rest of their TV "builds" are fake. I don't even buy the whole engraving operation.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

I have to say they are a bunch of idiots, as well as the people who are making the show. Between the two for one boob job wife and daughter (or is that 4 for 2?) and the horrible ship practices and fake flashing of cash and horrible gun practices, there is nothing left to like in the show. Did anyone see where they were test firing the AR-15 pistols and the mag kept dropping out? The kid had his finger on the mag release the entire time and there wasn't even a rear sight on the pistol to aim it with. Plus the store owner can't recognize and BAR or a fake tommy gun.

he should install a "bolts open cant shoot yet" alarm and how much takeup slack is there on that trigger? cool machining tho.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

Maybe it will promote the sport but for any one who has worked in a "gun shop" its like watching paint dry. The effort is ok though.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

In the mid 1980's when I was stationed at Pope AFB NC and I worked part time at Cumberland Knife and gun as a part time employee. It was a great time for me but I never made any money. I ended up spending everything I made there on more guns. I got some great deals and ended up spending what I made on nice guns.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

I just finished the episode with the vally gun. That thing look cool, maybe not 11 grand cool. It didn't look that hard to put together, seems like a cool project to try.

I just started the current weeks episode with the silver 1911, wasn't it just a few weeks ago when he was complaining about making the girls pink 1911, saying it's ridiculous to make it look "girly". Now he is putting silver and diamonds on one.

Re: new discovery channel show. "American guns"

what is up with this guy and Oliver North signed guns?
It seems every week he is trying to sell one, and this week he was like I wouldn't sell it but I have more so I can let it go. how many guns did he have North sign?
how much is his signature worth? it can't be that much. $12,000 for the SP1 because of the signature is crazy I thought the value of the SP1 was like $1,500-2,000 the signature can't be worth $10,000.
