Hello All,

Looking for some advice or tips as too how my experience with the ATF field agent may go, I can legally drink and I am of good enough character to possess a TS clearance so I'm assuming the background checks will be on par. My only concern is this inspection/interview... What exactly are they looking for? Will I be dinged for having a few thousand primers unsecured in the original box on my reloading bench? Do my personal firearms need to be locked away in a safe as well..

I have questions ppl.. hopefully you'll have answers...

Re: New FFL applicant

If you have concerns about something sitting out, put it away. They are not there to search your home, don't leave anything out in the open you're worried they might not like.

Mine was a breeze. I had an inspector and his supervisor come out. They sat in my living room and went through the basic paperwork required to be kept by a FFL to ensure I had a decent grasp of the procedures. They talked about important regulations and those I would be most likely to encounter. They looked at the area of my home that I use for my FFL business and they looked at (not in) my gun safe. Before they left they asked me if I had any questions for them and they both left a business card and encouraged me to call them if any questions popped up in the future.

It was a pleasant experience and I have had no issues with the BATFE concerning my FFL.

We just had ours not to long ago. They really come out to just go over your application and answer any questions you may have. They also fill you in on the rules and regulations, as well as showing you how to fill out all the proper paperwork.

They won't grant a FFL for the purpose of buying guns for your collection. You must be operating a for profit business which requires a FFL.

That is what a C&R FFL is for.
