Hello, I've been interested in long range shooting for some years. Now that I have a rang that goes to 600 yards near here. I have decided to go for it. I recently purchased a Remington 700 P. I have a Badger Ordnance 20 moa mount on it. I have a S W A F 5-20x50 ss hd scope on the way soon I hope. (ordered it on the last day of group buy)

Now to the question. I want to order rings. I was looking at Burris extreme tactical rings. Would like to have the rings here when the scope gets here. Will the low rings work or should I get the medium rings.

thanks for your help

Re: New guy here. need some help.

The low rings SHOULD work.

I had a set of the medium rings with a TRS-1 scope on an egw base.
They were definately too high. I gave the scope to my son for his Howa with a 2 piece base and a set of low rings.

My 700P is good to go with low rings, and I have the 20MOA Nightforce base with a Nikon Monarch X 4-16x50. Leupold Mk4 low rings or Nightforce low rings.

Re: New guy here. need some help.

I am in a similar situation. I am building a .308 with a 1.15" bull barrel and am getting a nice vx3 leapold put on it. I have the gun but still waiting for the scope. So here are my options. I have the leapold book that has all of their products in it and I can match my scope up with some rings based off the barrel size or I could take it to gander mt the day after I get my scope and match it up with the one I want. I will prob go with the latter but remember when shooting long range its easier to do compensations when your scope is closer to the bore.

Re: New guy here. need some help.

I have a Rem 5R Milspec in .308 with a Badger 20MOA base mounted.
For now I'm using a Falcon Menace 5.5-25 x 56mm on it. I had it mounted with med Burris Extreme Tacticals, and I just now switched to the lows. I have about 1/16" clearance even with Butler Creek caps installed.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, I think I will go with the low rings then. I'm hoping to get the scope and rings here soon. I would like to get the rifle broke in before it gets to cold out.
