Dear All,
Very excited to be among the experienced and wanna learn new starters like me.
I am from Istanbul, Turkey. Maybe an awkward location to most who I think from the States.

I perceive long range shooting as a personal challenge and started 1 year ago.
I am still recovering from the initial mistakes I made at the start in choosing hardware etc.
Hence, I decided to get as much unadulterated information as possible from the
experienced like yourselves to put them into practice.

This is a very very very expensive and limited hobby in my country due to many reasons which
I will not touch. Maybe that is exactly why I was attracted. Nice to be a part of the organization
and eagerly look forward to read your discussions.

Thanks, Alp

Thanks for the welcome. As long as you have a hunting license you can buy a rifle here. That is the easy part. The difficult part, to begin with, is there are no rifle ranges, only pistol indoor ranges. So you need to find an isolated place to learn and practice. Another more prohibiting concern is that all rifles are imported (although we have some excellent shotgun makers) and they cost on average 4 times what you guys are paying. Ammunition is controlled by a state monopoly and you get an allowance of 200 bullets with only one choice of maker and weight (usually a hunting bullet). To top the concerns, slow burning powder and hence reloading is forbidden. Any type of "tactical rifle" is forbidden as well. Despite all these, I am very keen to develop myself in long range shooting with my Blaser R93 Match Grade Bore Christiensen Carbon Fibre Stock .300WM. Need to do a lot of dry fire not to waste my precious 200 bullet allowance

At least you have a capable rifle, while I do not own a Blaser, I have always heard good things about them. I can see where the 200 rds. could be a hinderence though.

Dear Theis, Thank you, my understanding is this is their IWA offer which may not necessarily be available for the Turkish market.
I dropped them a mail to double check if they are offering it to the Turkish market through the state monopoly.
