Re: New place to party!
q,
The design(us and Andrew) and construction were done by (Andrew)Sutton Construction of Clarksville. They came recommended by our financial advisor who also remodels houses as a side business(they do his work). We did the demo in about 2.5 hours all the way to the wall of the house.
The entire deck has been replaced. It sits on 6x6 poles on top of 3' deep concrete footings and metal feet. It uses 2 x 10 joists, and all headers are 2x12(x3) laminated. The roof ties into the main roof with a 30* pitch and all shingles have been woven into the existing roof.
The whole system is 'to code' so we can at a later date TBD, remodel and extend the kitchen. The new roof extends 12' over the 18' deck leaving a 6' open area for the grills and for Panty 6 to ('I don't BURN! I'm Hawaiian!')* tan.
The two 'porch lanterns' are tied into the existing flood light on the driveway side. The fan and recessed lights with CFL dimmers, are tied into the old porch light that was over the kitchen door. This makes it easy to grill at night when we have late dinners, or get a good fire started early in the morning when using the big smoker...which will see duty May 21st as it gets filled with Brisket, Pork Butt, a couple racks of ribs, and a chicken or two. My EOD buddy is cooling his heels in 'The Bag' as we speak, awaiting transport stateside.
