Funny thing is, Colt made some frontier scouts from Zamak from 57-58 through 61-62. They are kinda collectible

Bearcats were steel and brass if I remember correctly. They even made one in 22 mag.
Edit: you are correct, it was aluminum with the brass trigger guard
I think it is anodized aluminum or some kind of potmetal! Looks brass. But was not.
Did some digging. Indeed aluminum alloy. The first model guns have frames marked PR1 and Alcoa. Trigger guards are a separate part and are aluminum, brass anodizing color.
They did use a zinc alloy (potmetal) in some early blackhawks then went to an Alcoa aluminum frame.
The early bearcats are sweet little guns. 16ozs or so loaded!

Brass-colored trigger guard. Still aluminum, but anodized a brass tone.
If someone made an aftermarket brass one, I’d install a real brass one in a second!

Shame on me for assuming brass. I always just associated color and non magnetic for brass. Terrible considering I had a 1969 model for quite a while. Cool old guns, next one I dig up will be an “alpha” version
When I got mine, I was totally disappointed it was Ersatz-brass. But it’s grown on me!

His philosophy is to bring 2A to the poors....got to respect that.
He was also law friendly to ensure his guns didnt become crime gins by adding some features to ensure they wouldnt be untraceable drop pieces.
