For 100 years, it has been called pot metal!
Then again, since 90 percent of the owners are potheads… potmetal makes sense.
Dude…. Potmetal! Woah

Funny thing is, Colt made some frontier scouts from Zamak from 57-58 through 61-62. They are kinda collectible

I think it is anodized aluminum or some kind of potmetal! Looks brass. But was not.Bearcats were steel and brass if I remember correctly. They even made one in 22 mag.
Edited as you were typing, it was aluminum with brass trigger guardI think it is anodized aluminum or some kind of potmetal! Looks brass. But was not.
Oh and the “super bearcats” were steel. Those were the second model.Bearcats were steel and brass if I remember correctly. They even made one in 22 mag.
Edit: you are correct, it was aluminum with the brass trigger guard
Brass-colored trigger guard. Still aluminum, but anodized a brass tone.Edited as you were typing, it was aluminum with brass trigger guard
Shame on me for assuming brass. I always just associated color and non magnetic for brass. Terrible considering I had a 1969 model for quite a while. Cool old guns, next one I dig up will be an “alpha” version
Very cool table. Lots Of good info there
When I got mine, I was totally disappointed it was Ersatz-brass. But it’s grown on me!Shame on me for assuming brass. I always just associated color and non magnetic for brass. Terrible considering I had a 1969 model for quite a while. Cool old guns, next one I dig up will be an “alpha” version
+ one to everything you said. I bought mine because i honestly couldn't afford any thing better, but it always went bang. Really the only thing I didn't like about it was that it pinched my trigger finger between the trigger guard and the trigger every time I shot it
