K I have a Tikka T3 20" Tactical on the way to me. I need some suggestions for optics. I want to hunt with this rifle plus play on "longer range" not 1000yds, maybe 600. But definately need target style knobs for adjustments. Looking for something at $600 or less preferably. And not so god-awful large. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 can be had for $500, but I'd pony up for the 4.5-14x44AO with the mildot..you end up with fantastic zeiss lenses and a scope with very good resale value if you ever decided to upgrade.
The turrets have caps to prevent accidental corrections, only drawback for some is the fact that the turrets run counterclockwise, ie you unscrew for up and tighten for down.
However they are designed to allow you to bring your hashes to zero without using set screws like on some other scopes, instead you lift the turret and it disengages from the ratchet mechanism so you can re-index it at zero.
