Hey guys I need some help....

I have a Sig P226 and am looking to upgrade my sights that are better suited for uspsa competitions. My question is where can I get them installed at?

I don't really want to spend the $100 for the sight removal tool...Or is it cheaper in the long run????

    Re: New sight install???

If you can't find a shop/someone local with a sight pusher, you can always use the hammer and punch method.

I own a number of Glocks for carry and comp so I invested in the MGW Sight Tool. It has seen enough use between myself, family and friends to justify the cost.

If you use the hammer and punch method get a piece of square bar stock aluminium! Just make sure it's not as wide as the sight base and cut it down so it is maybe 4" long.

I believe that some places like Dawson precision will install the sights for you if you mail in the slide. It's possible that Sig Arms will do that as well. Give them a call to see.
Personally, I bought a Glock sight pusher, since it's my primary pistol, and makes it easier to move sights around without any wait.

    Re: New sight install???

I bought a sight pusher tool from a forum member on a 1911 site. $55 shipped I think, $60 if you wanted to add the solid brass bolt on top of the brass tipped one. I'd GLADLY buy another if I lost this one.....

I think it works for any slide with no slide-mounted-safety. I'll start looking for the contact info.

Here is the thread if anyone else is interested. I think it's a great quality product, made by a site member on another site. He may be a member here, I'm not sure. If I'm not supposed to post this, just let me know and I'll delete.

Thanks I checked out the whole thread. What does he mean in the original post when he says

"Sigs and FN's that have lightening cuts on the front of the slide will require some sort of shim to work with the front sights."

I'm not sure what he means by "lightening cuts"

    Re: New sight install???

On 1911's you usually see 'em on race guns. It's the taking off of of more material than just front slide serrations.

I'm not sure on Sigs or FNs. I don't recall the FNP or FNX having any. If I had to guess, I would say it would be on the high end stuff, #'d runs, special editions, etc., but that's just a shot in the dark.

Had a Sig P220, never changed the sights, but I don't remember any slide lightening cuts.

    Re: New sight install???

That depends on how much a local gunsmith would charge, and how many times you plan on changing sights on Sigs. I charge $20 to install sights on most pistols. I have dedicated tools for Sig, Glock, and some others. I also have a Meprolight tool.

It should be a straight forward job for any competent gunsmith. I would contact some of your locals and see if they can take care of you.

If not, it is always nice to have an excuse to buy a new tool.
