In the middle of this last move, I noticed that the recoil pad is shot (haha) and is torn in half. How it happened, I will never know. It had already started to tear last time I was out.

Along with the other things I do not like about the stock (flexy front end, finish peeling off, carsten cheek piece in the wrong place), I think I am going to go with a new stock.

After a lot of looking, I think I have settled on a Stockade Stock and just finish it up myself (Pretty competent when it comes to finish work).

My questions:
Does anyone have the Woodchuck style stock from them? What do you think of it? Like or dislike?
(hijacked from their site)

What fill did you use for your long range elk/deer slayer?
Is it worth the upgrade to the adjustable cheek for $110? (I have another rifle to use the karsten on. Tired of constantly adjusting the cheek piece to clean rifle, always in the way and hard to get back to the same place.)
Is the 1" pad worth it on a 300winmag? Or is the 1/2" acceptable? Don't want to rattle fillings or eyeballs loose.
Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance.

I have the Mule Deer stock with a 1" pad on my 243AI. There isn't anything that I don't like about the stock and the money saver is easy to finish. I plan on ordering another Mule Deer for my 300WM build.

I have a woodchuck on order now. Cant wait to get it. I posted a thread on here a few days ago hoping some guy would post up some pics of their Stockade stocks. No dice yet. Kevin is a good guy to deal with though. Give him and call, he will be glad to talk with you and will give you sound advice.
