Just want to say that i'm new to the forum. Live in South Central KY. And have a 2 part question.

Part 1
I am having trouble with a rifle. I have a Savage 10fp that has been rebarreled with a McGown 6.5x47 lapua 1:8.5 twist and 28" long. Using a Millett lrs scope and bell carlson tactical stock.

My problem is that for some reason my rifle is not consistant. I shoot 123 grn Sierra's lapua's, and Amax's with RL-15, bullets and my varmint all purpose bullet is v-max 95 grn's with Varget. I will get a load worked up and shot a descent group and then can go out a few weeks later and seems like starting from scratch. Will have fliers an inch or so off. I just can't figure out how can shoot a .5 to .75 group and then open up to almost 1.5-2.0. Tried diff amounts of poweder and seating depths. I'm at a loss and no I'm not a pro shooter but I can hold a better group than what its shooting. The scope seems to be secure as I thought it was that but IDK.

Part 2
Has anyone tried the 95 vmax with 43 grns of varget with the 6.5x47. I saw on a forum that someone was running that on a 260 as there varmint rnd.

I now this is long but thanks for your help.

Re: New to Forum and need HELP

Could be a problem with the Indian, and not the arrows.. But I would definitely check the mounts for anything loosening up. How fast are you shooting? Hot barrel could cause the spread. Also, is the stock bedded?

I'll wait for the savage shooters to chime in with specific info or solutions. But foremost, I would not run loads in a 6.5X47 based off what someone else is running in a .260 Remington.

Re: New to Forum and need HELP

I just got my chrono a little while back and my loads with the 123's 39.5 RL-15 is around 3050 fps.

Im gonna run my varmint loads down a little to try to see if they will tighten up. Have been running them a little hot but gonna back them down to 39 grns varget with the vmax's they will be app 3150-3200fps.

Btw the stock is a Medalist with the alumn bedding. Gonna check it over next weekend when I get in to see if there is any points it may be contacting the barrel.

Thanx for the input

Just wanted to say thanx for all the help. I traced things down to find some issues with the scope mounts.

I loaded my 95gr v-max load and changed the seating up a bit and ended up with a 4 shot group ( that I did pull a little) ended up measuring .560 with my calipers.

Thanx again,

Jason
