Looking at getting started in PRS shooting. I realize everyone says practice, practice, practice but I would like to just start with a nice stock. I live in KS and am willing to drive several hours to find a dealer/gunsmith that has MPA, J.Allen, and KRG stocks on-hand. Would like to lay hands on one before I put some money towards one. Anyone know of such a place?

You might try looking on each of those manufacturer websitee and see if they have a section for "dealer listing".

It might be tough choosing a stock if you haven't shot much rifle.

I don't think you'll go wrong with MPA or KRG, I'd skip J Allen... Too much money for not enough return. It's better spent elsewhere in the beginning, cases of ammo for practice as an example.

I recommend going to a match and talking to shooters. You can learn alot from everyone there and I have never been to a match where guys didnt want to talk about their gun.

Depends on where in Kansas you're at, but there's a place in Sedalia, MO that usually has some stocks on hand. Some KRG's for sure, possibly an MPA. Recoil Addiction LLC. They've got a Facebook page.

I strongly disagree. JAE is the best chassis I've had my hands on. And I've had my hands on pretty much everything.

Now I will agree that if money is tight, there are better value propositions than the JAE. Law of diminishing returns and all of that. But if money is no object, than JAE is one of, if not the, best chassis out there.

I'm with the crowd that recommends going to a match, watching the course of fire and pay attention to the shooters that know what their doing. When the time comes introduce yourself and ask questions. Don't forget to ask the most important one, 'If you had it to do all over again, what would you do different and why?'

If you go to a match and ask a shooter, make sure his shirt does not match his equipment otherwise just read the shirts of the guys on the podium.

Most (Top guys) are sponsored or have their personal favorites so they point you into the direction of their sponsor, or their buddies' sponsor.

You are better off getting behind the stuff and "trying it" to see what feels the best for you. You have to shoot it and use it, so get behind it, and see which one suits your needs.

I would ask what the benefits to the stages the equipment makes and not why guys like or use what they use. Let them outline how the feature is utilized.
