This is slightly different to US sheep hunting - not Bighorn or Marco Polo, but hunting for wild merino sheep on public land in New Zealand

Hunters huts built by the government , materials flown in by hele. Lots of them were built for professional hunters employed by the government to reduce deer/goat/possum numbers.

While I have no desire to hurt native animal species, habitat, food sources, etc. etc. it would be much more fun and interesting if the Rocky Mountains had an overabundance of goats, sheep, or whatever, so we had something to hunt year round...

I don't think this particular hut is a NZFS/Internal Affairs cullers' hut but yes, that is how a lot of them got there originally, along with old miners or farming huts.
