Gunsmithing Newb stock question.

I just received a B&C Medalist stock for my factory 700 sps action and barrel. For the most part the stock fit pretty well. The fore end and bolt area needed a little bit of cleaning up but nothing major. However, when I removed the stock I noticed the side of the receiver had stock chalk on it from heavy pressure.
My question is this a good thing or should it be releived?

Something worth mentioning is that I am getting lateral stringing in groups. Could be my trigger work but I doubt that I am slapping or crushing that consistantly.

Re: Newb stock question.

In the ancient past, I've had problems with Bell & Carlson stocks. I think someone else should voice up on this.

Good luck. I hope you get it right.

Re: Newb stock question.

Tks Victor, I will play with bolt tension to see if it does anything. I will also skim bed at some point to see if that helps.
