I’m really new to the suppressed game, so all the advice I can get is greatly appreciated. I have a Rem. 700 short action with a .473 boltface. It’s currently chambered in .308 but the bbl. is getting really long in the tooth. So I’m thinking about re-barreling it with a 1-8’ twist and chambering it in 30BR. I talked with PT&G and they have made several reamers in the past for guys that want to suppress their 30BR and shoot 200-220 gr. bullets just as I do. I’m a L-R shooter and know nothing about this discipline, so any help for you experienced hushpuppy guys would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

for what it's worth, the 30BR is a big hit at the local range for extreme accuracy in benchrest shooting. The old retired gents really love them. Some are also shooting them suppressed but I'm not sure what bullet weight / barrel twist they are using.

I've got a 30 BR, that shoots pretty darn well - but it's a 1:18" twist and built for 112 grain bullets. Not exactly subsonic. I would gather that cranking the twist down enough to stabilize 200 grainers would not be a good thing, but I've never tried such a thing.
