Hi. I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Nick and my full time occupation is tactical automatic knife sales, hence the "Bladezilla" user name. I used to be a fairly avid shooter and reloader then, as life does, things changed. I am now renewing my appreciation of shooting and especially long range shooting.

My newest rig is a Rock River arms LAR-8 Varmint with a 26 inch barrel. I've added a Mag Pul stock and Butler creek bipod. Glass is a Zeiss Conquest 4x14x50 with Rapid Z 1000 reticle accompnieed by a 6 inch sunshade and butler creek flip up covers.

I'm here mostly to learn more about long range shooting and handloads and available accessories for my rig. I appreciate the opportunity to share this forum with you guys. I'm sure there is some invaluable talent here and I look forward to participating.

1st question. Any suggestions on ways to improve upon my setup? I'm pretty happy with my RR. I'm shooting sub moa groups at 100yds with factory ammo but, as we all know, there is always a way to get just a bit more out of almost anything if you've got the time, inclination and cash.

Thank you. Nick

Re: Next Shooter

Welcome. 1st fill out your profile. then get ride of the 6inch sun shade. looks cool but can cause problems down the road. if you dont reload or even if you do check out the reloading section.

Re: Next Shooter

I'm a reloader from way back. Problem is all my loads and referances are from way back too. There's allot of new things out since I quit some 18 years ago. Now I'm playing catchup and feeling like a newby.

My 2 longer range Rifles are a Rem 700 in 30-06 and my RR Lar-8 in .308. I'll check the reloading section for loads.

I realize there may be better performing calibers but I chose these two for two reasons. #1. they are very common making components more plentiful and, #2. My own inconsistecies would likely negate much of the benefit of "the perfect" round.
