I am beginning to look for a scope to put on a future AI AT and these are my two choices: NF ATACR F1 4-16 or Vortex Razor HD Gen II 3-18. Which would you choose and why?

You got a toss up. I went gen 2 because of the warranty and it was cheaper than NF. NF will be lighter if that's more important for you.
Glass wise, they will be similar since optics at that price range will pretty much be the same.

Both are good scopes. What you should base your choice on is what kind of shooting you will be doing. The other one you may want to look at is the Vortex AMG just a couple hundred more less weight.
I just spent the last two week deciding on a scope and was all set to go with the Vortex Gen 2 until I found out Schmidt & Bender dropped their prices. Yes it $1000 more but the glass is just better and it has the Tremor 3 in it.

Gen2 Razor. EBR-2C would be my vote.
But I'd recommend the 4.5-27x over the 3-18x
The difference in size cost and weight are very very small.
Higher magnification will allow you to use it as a spotting scope and get a more accurate view of your target at 27x (even if you shoot at lower mag) before shooting. At longer ranges, 20x or more would not hurt.
NF ATACR F1 5-25x is comparable to the 4.5x razor2, just costs more.
I'm guessing with an AIAT you're not worried about weight for hunting and packing it for long distances.

I like the size of the F1 and don't mind the MIL-R reticle but I do prefer the EBR-2C with the open center. I have always liked the open center reticles. I really like the S&B ultra short but they are little more than I am looking to spend.
