Rifle Scopes NF NX8 vs Vortex Razor Gen II glass quality

I'm currently looking at the NF 4-32x50 F1 and Vorext razor gen 2 4-27x56
The scope will be used on a 300 PRC hunting rifle. I own a a razor gen 2 and an ATACR. Has anyone had any hands on with the NX8? How does it compare to the ATACR and the Razor gen 2?

i haven't personally looked through one but have read basically ever thread here on them. I don't think you'll notice much difference between RG2 and NX8, but you're more likely to with the ATACR.

you will notice the 20 ounces on a hunting rifle though

Definitely agree with this. You will notice that much weight difference sitting on top of a hunting rifle. Especially if you are going to a lightweight build.

ive got both

side by side between 3 different shooters...the nx8 was slightly (very slighty, a touch brighter and very small advantage in edge details on targets we were looking at from 920-980 yds) better to 2 of us and the same to the third set of eyes...the nx8 was brand new and the gen2 was 2-3 yrs old also...id call them a wash if anything

i dont think youre goin to see much of a difference given sample variation between them both

The NX8 I looked through had some of the worst edge distortion I’ve seen in any sub $2k optic. Decent resolution and brightness, but it was annoying as fuck to look through.

If you are considering spending that much money on an optic, either save for a couple more weeks and get yourself a used ATACR, or save the money altogether and get the Gen 2.

I'm in the same boat, looking for an optic for a hunting rig. I'm torn between MK5HD 3.6-18x or NX8 2.5-20x. Leaning more towards the NX8. Once the MIL-XT comes out I'll make my decision.

Already have a Razor G2, MK5HD and ATACR. Just want something on the lighter side.

Have you considered the AMG? 50mm objective and way lighter than the gen 2 razor. Not sure how the glass compares.

Glass between the AMG and the Razor G2 is a wash. Sample variation will make one better than the other, but looking through several of both it was pretty difficult to tell a difference. Maybe a SLIGHT edge to the AMG.

For this application, I'd consider the AMG as well. Gen 2 is heavier than I'd want in a hunting rifle.

If you want Nightforce, go with a 4-16x42 ATACR.

Otherwise, with crossover scopes, I own three that stood out to me for various reasons:

March 3-24x52
Tangent Theta 3-15x50
Vortex AMG 6-24x50

When I tested the 4-16x42 ATACR, the reticle choices were slimmer. Now that there are more options, I might pick one up as well.
