I have heard that a trust needs to be registered at you local court house in Michigan in order to use it for NFA purposes? Has anyone else heard this?

My trust attorney said there was "disagreement" as to whether or not this was required. I was told that the safer route was to register the trust in probate court to avoid possible issues. Qouting (approximately):
"...There is currently a disagreement of opinion as to whether the Trust needs to be registered in your local probate court. Some BATF examiners are stating you need to register it while others say this is not required. If you choose not to register your Trust the BATF examiner MAY reject it."
A Registration of Trust form was included with my trust for the lawyer.
