Our April match will press urban rifle skill sets in both carbine and precision courses of fire (you shoot one or the other). The precision CoF will include a DMR category for scoped semi-auto .223's. Any other caliber is scored as a precision rig. No bipods on carbines unless using a firearm equipped with one at the factory (e.g. RPK, semi-auto LMG type rifle, etc).

Both platforms should expect the challenges that come with barricade shooting, use of a vehicle as cover and a shooting platform, unorthodox shooting positions, and negotiating other features found in urban environments.

CoF and round counts to follow. There will be a pistol and 15 or so rounds for it needed for carbine. Strong side holster only.

Members $20, guests $30. 0830 start time.

COF looks fantastic! However, I'm thinking it will be more like May before my knees cooperate, at the earliest. But COFs like this have me salivating to get back out there!

I hope someone can post pictures post match?

Re: NHRPC URBAN RIFLE MATCH 4/7, GAP, PA

The match is full in the carbine category!

There are precision spots still open.

If you missed it, please try to hit the registration earlier.

If you made it, you should have received an email with an equipment update - gloves (any kind that protects your hands) are required.

You may know the CoF but you definitely don't know the entire story.

I was in quite a mood.....

The shooters got a few surprises at the briefing. It seemed to be well received but I didn't get a lot of feedback yet.

1 - A warning order. A cruise missile (a.k.a. 'tom', played by a large chunk of telephone pole) containing classified navigation technology has lost its booster system and gone down in the city as UXO.

2 - A helo is supposed to land in 5 minutes in a hot LZ to pick it up. The LZ is approx. 650Y away, up hill. EOD techs are at the LZ to render it safe for transport. Find it, make it to the LZ inside the time hack.

3 - Precision shooters go out first while the carbine shooters locate tom and get him on the move. Their targets are 1 paintball per shooter, 200Y plus 5 bonus ones. 5 rounds per shooter, take as much time as you want, but 'tom' can't pass until they are all done. Every one they hit buys the helo another 15 seconds on the LZ.

4 - Every time 'tom' touches the ground, 1:00 comes off the time hack.

5 - The entire day, nobody sits on anything but the ground, no personal equipment on benches, and your rifle stays on you all day. If the staff get between you and your unattended rifle it's a serious point deduction. Any other shooter can hold your rifle for you at any time safely.

They made it. With less than a minute to spare. Three paintballs were hit by the precision crew. The EOD had a lot of work to do to disable it. It had to be lifted up high, rotated, stood on end... held still while he fetched tools, etc.

One shooter with a brake seriously widened a hole in the range barricade. Believing a 'warning device' was necessary, he was sent all the way back to the firing line to get a cinderblock. He had to take all his gear and be back before it was his turn for the next stage. He made it and was duly absolved.

If these sort of extra challenges are welcome, I will continue to sneak them in. I just got a new cell phone and it has Milton Bradley programmed in, so there's no chance I will run out of games. ;-D
