Finally a ray of sunshine peeks through the winter clouds.

The smack talk is over, the 5.56 cases are all decrimped and ready to load, and it's time to start pressing them out.

April 9th is the first match.

I won't know until a few days before, but if there is enough room, we will let shooters run with a second gun in a different class.

Registered for DMR, but bringing Recce in case we can end up shooting two rifles. Thanks for hosting this Freddy!

Was planning on coming too recce but I just realized, this is the same day as the pro am which I'm already going to.

Dang, can't make this one. Plans for that weekend already. How are series points going to be added up? Best 3 out of 5?

Good deal fellas!

A LOT of DMR shooters so far, hoping to get some more RECCE in there.

The series points are going to be your best three scores (per class) that span two clubs.

The prize table is going to be drooping in the middle.

Geissele Automatics has about TEN GRAND worth of their premium products on there (mounts, handguards, triggers, EV-ER-Y-THING) and we're just getting started.

Just starting to put the first course of fire together. It's your series guys, so if you want a certain thing there, let me know.

There's quite a few new things coming. Especially at the U. I can't wait to see the look on your faces.

Freddy. Just to clarify, this is in fact scheduled the same day as the Mason Dixon pro am correct? Just what to make sure it's not a typo or something. I really wanted to shoot this but I'm already registered for the pro am.

Registered for RECCE the first day I saw it open so I know I am one of the few LOL Already got my 3 gun AR set up like that so figured why not.

Being my first match, I have a lot of questions obviously. How many mags? Suppressors OK for recce? How many rounds? 20 rd mags OK or do they have to be 30? Pistol stages? Can bags be used in this class or no go? Rangefinder allowed or are distances given?

Things may be different this year but having shot it last year:

Mags: at least 3
Suppressors: Yes
Rounds: 120 minimum, I'd bring 150
20 rounders: Yes, I can't get low enough to the ground with 30s
Pistol: No
Bags: bring them but don't expect Freddy to let you use them, especially for RECCE.
Distances: given

Im wondering how pissed off my wife will be if I canceled vacation to shoot this first match.

Rob - That's exactly what we pointed the RECCE class at. A large percentage of 3-gun shooters shit the bed on longer shots & movers because they never get to practice them so I wanted to provide a sandbox for them to come and sort that stuff out. Plus it's just satisfying to shoot that far with a rather ordinary fighting rifle.

Sixfivesavage,

Good advice there from Lenny. The only change this year is that we are not providing distances. The distances at NHRPC are obvious because it's a square range so this really applies to the big U which is a more open, field shooting environment.

If we had 20 shooters I found I was shouting out the distances almost 20 times.

The targets will be identified for you, but you have to range them. Lasers are acceptable and encouraged.

Not only does this prevent me from going hoarse, I think it adds a bit of realism too.

Many of the targets at the big U are movable (and shall be moved around), so a range card made in a previous match won't be completely accurate.

Freddy, of course we NEED the gaggle of dix. And the canine is always fun as shit. Hopefully they have all the bull dozing done in time. Look forward to any new stuff too.

I'm also a big fan of the headshot stage from 300 to 700 yards with only 1 modification: No bipods or tripods. Some peoples tripod set ups are sick. I think it would be fun to try head shots from a seated position with slings allowed. It would be a hard stage, but it could be fun.

We've done the headshot stage fired standing, braced on a post. Sitting might be more like turning money into noise for most.

But hey - I'm happy to make shooters' wishes come true!

dghboy315 - nothing to worry about. You will get the hang of it fast and you can use my laser.

chevyman368 - Those old favorites will DEFINITELY be in the series, but I have also worked out some new things that quite frankly have:

I truly can't wait to see the looks on your faces.

Registered under DMR, but bringing a Recce as well. Looking forward to it!

Registered for DMR earlier. Is there going to be a chunk of time at the beginning for ranging targets and making a range card? If there is enough time, I'd probably range with the scope just for the practice, then use the laser to confirm. I read about these matches last year, but couldn't do anything about it. I'm looking forward to having some fun with them this year!

Hey guys, I'll have an email going out shortly. We will be starting the match a little later than usual because I can't get out there to set up fully.
