Rifle: NIB Remington 700 XCR compact tactical 223
Problem: bolt is very difficult to close when chambering a round fed normally(from mag). The rim of the cartridge is chewed up when extracted .Remove bolt, clip a round in the bolt face and feed it manually bolt closes like butter.
I assumed it was a bad extractor, called Remington explained the problem they agreed. New extractor came in replaced it = same problem!
Now this rifle has Remington's nitride coating. The entire bolt, lugs boltface and all are coated as well.
Could the coating on the boltface be causing the problem?
