I just got a 2.5-8x32 with the HV reticle and the capped turrets. Everything is the usual top quality out of the box, but the turret caps are a real pain in the a$$ to get screwed back on. The O-ring seal contacts the bottom of the cap right at the point where the threads start to match up, and I have to put down pressure on the cap at the same time that I'm feeling for the threads to start. The windage turret starts without a lot of trouble, but the elevation turret is a real bitch!
Is this normal?
I'm worried that I'll eventually strip the threads.

Re: Nightforce capped turrets

Same issue that I have on my 2.5-10x32, which, incidentally is what you have I think. I'm not aware of a 2.5-8x32 from NF unless it's not in the NXS series.

Windage isn't too bad, elevation is a PITA. I've been fiddling with it for about 4 months now. Most of the time I just hold with the reticle at distance instead of dialing unless I'm trying to hold more than ~ 15 MOA over.

Makes a good training tool, though I did dial it a lot last weekend out to 1200+

Re: Nightforce capped turrets

I have the 2.5-10 with MV reticle. I don't experience the problem you are describing. While the threads are finer than I have experienced with other brands they go with no extra force necessary and certainly not enough to activate the adjustment knob.

Re: Nightforce capped turrets

I have found if you turn the cap counter clock wise while adding a little pressure you will feel the threads drop into place, this seems to make cross threading less likely.

Yep, that's what I do. The pressure from the O-ring makes it difficult to feel the threads drop in.

bohem, it is a 2.5-10x32. Brain fart on my part.
