Rifle Scopes Nightforce MOAR reticle use for holdovers?

On the 8-32x56 when using the MOAR reticle with a .338 Lapua, how far out is the 20 MOA of holdovers going to get me out to? I will be dialing in my shots on the range, but for a shot at a long range coyote useing the holdovers is much quicker. They tend to disappear very fast!!! I will be zeroing at 200. Would it be better to zero using the very top hash mark above the center crosshair for my zero point? I chose the 8-32x56 for what reason, not sure as I still have to dial back to 22 power to shoot. I guess I should be able to see my hits on paper way out there easier? Any input would be helpful?

The nightforce 8-32 is a second focal plane scope, that means that the holdovers are only going to be correct to their corresponding MOA value at one magnification power (generally highest). Also in order to determine your holdovers you need to calculate your specific ballistics with a program such as JBM ballistics. This takes into account specific bullet, velocity, environmental conditions etc.

Yep, I posted above that I would need to dial back to 22 power to use the reticle per the instructions on the Nightforce website. I guess I was just trying to get a general idea of the distance I would be getting from just 20 MOA of holdovers that this scope has?

It will give you about 20 MOA........
Like mm5 said, you need to figure out your DOPE and that will tell you what you need to know.

MOA = MOA. Doesnt matter if you are using the reticle or dialing. Have you shot with this set up? Have you figured out your DOPE for dialing?

Give me your load data and I will plug it into my calculator and tell you what it gives me... you will have to shoot it to see what 20 MOA is foe your rifle. I will need all the info.. including your rifle ' s info

I shot my 338 lapua with holdover for first time today, I normally dial. At 6 hundred yards 10 moa got me there. I have atacr with moar reticle. I also have a 200 yd zero. It was right on with my turrets. Same!
