Hi Hide members. I'm new here I am a Senior Member on Calguns.net with the same screen name Sure Shot 45.

I bought 2 new NF scopes from SportOptics. One was a SHV 3-10 the other was the NX8 1-8. I first opened and installed the SHV 3-10 on my Ruger 10/22 Competition. Then opened the NX8 weeks later to find out the battery was pre installed in the scope unlike the SHV. I attempted to open the cover to inspect the battery and the cap just fell off. It appears to have been glued on. Something doesn't seem right. Now I have a brand new unmounted never used scope with a problem. Can anyone confirm did their NX8 battery come pre installed? And is this a normal NightForce construction method?

I'm not trying to bash anyone here. SportOptics has been excellent and I'm very happy with my NF SHV 3-10 scope.

    Thanks!

    Hello,
I am interested in purchasing an NXS 1-8 in the near future so I was drawn to check out your question....if it was me I would contact Nightforce and tell them your issue...they have great customer service in my experience. Hopefully the seller would exchange it if there is indeed an issue.

Most of the NFs I've bought came with the battery installed. The only one that hasn't had it already was the SHV.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say it appears that your cap was glued on. I'm sure NF would discuss it with you if you called them.

Your post is 10 days old. Did you resolve?

The cap is two piece. Yours appears to have separated.
If brand new, contact the vendor you purchased from. If they do not elect to handle for you, NF will certainly handled quickly and you would have the scope back within a few days.

The vendor advised me to contact NF as I did. I sent it back to NF. It was delivered on the 23rd. I got a call on the 27th, they replaced the battery cover. I have not yet received tracking, assuming it will ship today. Both the vendor SportOptics and NF have been excellent to deal with.

Thanks for the confirmation about the batteries.

I mean when the cap broke off it appeared as if it's held on with some sort of adhesive. I asked the NF customer service about that they said they would need to see it, that's it.

I guess I don't understand what other method could be used to attach the outer cover to the inner guts of this multi-piece unit. Maybe I'm missing the point here.

I guess you are missing the point. It broke off from being turned with my little fingers. I don't know maybe some interfacing lugs or how about a solid one piece machined unit or a set screw. I don't know I'm not an engineer. Either way it should not have broken off like this. I would like to see it attached in a fashion that requires more torque to remove then is generated by my fingers.
