Rifle Scopes Nightforce nx8 4-32x50.... no increase in magnification from 4 to 4.5?

Anyone know why when I turn my magnification from 4 up to about 4.5, when looking thru scope the image doesn't magnify, it just fills the glass more by taking away the black ring. Can anyone explain? Ty

That's referred to as tunneling. At least it sounds like what you are describing

It's definitely tunneling. The magnification is increasing, but the FOV isn't for that 4-4.5x-ish zone. The NX8 is not the only optic that this occurs on. As for a technical reason behind it, that isn't something I can answer myself. @koshkin would probably be your best bet to explain it.

Based on a previous post NF will probably tell you you mounted it wrong.

This. It's normal for this optic. Mine does it as does the other examples I've seen in person and online.
