Re: nikon bdc

I called nikon and got the reticle subtensions for the 3x9 Omega scope! Not sure if they are the same but mine is -
Circle are 2" @ 100 yards
Center first circle - 2" from center ret.
Center second - 4"
Center third - 7"
Center fourth- 10"
Top of Duplex - 15"

works well with my Ruger 77/44 44mag out to 200 yards!

Re: nikon bdc

I use a 2.5-10 on one of my .308 rifles and it has worked very well. Once you get the magnification power for your load worked out it's pretty reliable. My .308 loads work on 7x and I have shot mine out to 600 and can pretty regularly make 1st shot hits at 18" steel plates. The circles make holdover for wind or movement difficult as there are no reference lines. it's a good system and works well, the B&C, TDS, or the new BR reticle are better but they are also double, triple or quadruple the price.

I just bought a new Nikon 8450 Monarch 8-32X50 with the BDC reticle. We've a trip to the range this weekend where I generally shoot bench and prone from 200-600 yds. I'll be glad to report how it does on a Colt 24" A3 Elite (.223)ASAP.

Re: nikon bdc

We gave all of our sales people Remingtons with Nikon BDC scopes as a bonus and sent them to Tac-Pro to learn how to use them. Stephanie had never shot a centerfire rifle before and after a little instruction she was hitting shaving cream cans at 500.

You can't tell much but here is a short video from that day.

Re: nikon bdc

It is pretty good looking. type in google for bdc reticle review and i believe you will find some forum reviews (magazines seem biased, every scope is great kind of reviews)

I have looked through it and with time to really figure in the distance it works. I shoot the Burris BDC which i prefer over the general circles. The Burris has cross hairs or notches. The BDC is really designed to shoot and elk/deer at 400 yards and hit the vital area, not take a p-dogs head off at 400 yards. If you watch the SWFA video you can see some great results with the reticle.

Just my opinion on it.

Nikon has a modified one in there coyote line of scopes. These circles are roughly the size of the coyote vital area at each distance.

Zeiss has a great reticle for this, Leupold is another option, and then there are mil-dot scopes. Each will take some work but all can work.

Re: nikon bdc

I used my BDC on my 700p 308 for first time this weekend out at our range. its a 4.5x14x40 buckmaster that was given to me as a gift. zeroed at 100 yards and shooting at 1inch circles i was able to hold 3 shot groups using the BDC out to 300yrds. I have not been able to test at 4+ yet but so far so good. I find the scope also completed the box test as well as return to zero. Im pleased so far.

Re: nikon bdc

It works well with some testing. Shot a tad high on my 6-18X40 buckmaster on a 300 WM at 500 yards with a hundred yard zero but deffinitely worth using for hunting with a little practice.
