Range Report non suppressed shooting subsonic ammo?

Im wondering what would be heard down range (100-175yards) with subsonic ammo on a .308 thats not suppressed? Im wondering if it might help hide where Im shooting from when varmint hunting? Im in CA so we cant have suppressors here.

Shooting subsonic ammo without a supressor sounds like a 22 LR going off. How loud it is depends on the powder used and how long your barrel is.
