Ok so I've searched and read online however to no avail. I newly aquired 2 308 barrels, an sps 20" and a 26" pss barrel. I have a remmy 700 long action with mag bolt face. Am I able to use either of those barrels to run as a 300 winmag? I know dia on the bulet shows as the same but I figured id ask the guys that know. I'm just looking to build a really nice elk rifle and got a killer deal on all components

Bullet diameter is the same but you will need to ream out the chamber for a 300 win mag chamber. If you are trying to use your setup as a 308 then the magnum sized bolt head will not work for a 308 round.

there may not be enough shank on that pss barrel to go .300wm.....& i would check the twist and see if you really want to hobble together your flame thower.....

Yeah, I forgot about the twist issue on those barrels. Usually a take off is around 1:12 twist, not the best for a Win and heavier bullets. The 150s would scream out of it, I don't think the twist is ideal for anything over 180. The 1:10 twist is a great twist for the Win Mag. I am not sure how much you are going to save, but if you shop dilligently you are likely to find a suitable barrel blank for under $300. If you sold both of those for around $100 ea, you are only looking another $100 for a good blank. The gunsmithing cost will be a mute point as both need very similar work
