so I bought a Hornady reloading set up, and think I have my head wrapped around most of it to start.
the one (?nit-picky?) thing I am scared about is : part of the powder measure set up.

watching a video from Hornady themselves,

they show how to disassemble it to remove the anti-tarnish, and other oils, so the powder doesn't stick. - makes sense.

in the video, the guy (FROM HORNADAY) specifically says to NOT get the hornaday one-shot cleaner and dry lube ON THE RUBBER O-RING, which he removed from the powder metering insert (3:30 into video)

yet later, around 5:15 into the video, he takes no issue spraying the daylights out of the rotor, AND ITS OWN O-RING

are the two o-rings different material?
why would one swell with the spray, and not the other?

I imagine taking the o-ring off the rotor wouldn't be too difficult, just not sure how easily it'd go back on.

any advice would be much appreciated
thanks
Jesse

i dont have one, so i cant say for certain, but it doesnt look like an Oring at 5:15 on the rotor......looks more like a retaining clip

EDIT: found a video and they do appear to be orings...honestly i think the guy making the video just wasnt paying attention....its not uncommon for little things to slip.

they do make different orings for different chemicals, im guessing thats not the case with this loader, i would avoid direct exposure to ANY oring with any type of cleaning chemical.

Just use the one shot dry lube and cleaner spray, spray the piss out of it and let it dry throughout before you re assemble. Don’t over think the pre prep. (Don’t use a solvent, EVER. The finish cones off and gets very sticky) also the cfe lines of powder meter the absolute best out Hornady throws. Mine will do .004g consistency with it.
