Interesting action, what are you using as a media? I assume you heat treat after printing. What are the side pimples, it would seem that it would defeat the possibility of being R700 stock compatible. Also where is your Bolt release?

Looks good. I too am curious as to more details and answers to the questions above. Extra meat on the screw bosses makes a ton of sense… I wish more makers that start with enough material (basically any integrated recoil lug) would do the same.
 
The mounting points are just bosses for you being able to mount whatever additional optics/accessories you want. Examples would be a dayscope with a PVS mounted next to it for low light. Perhaps the user wants to run a day optic and thermal setup (offset is probably going to be tricky if thermal weapon mounted). More than enough room for Red dots, DOPE cards, electronic levels, etc... etc... all mounted more directly to the receiver in a more sturdy manner.

I also heard rumor that there ***may be*** some technology developed for a display and interfacing between things like your Kestrel and LRF. PLEASE do not quote me on this. I was trying to wrap my head around it in the 60 second verbal presentation. I may be way off.

I know super little about this, other than talking to a guy for five minutes who is much more in the know and production.

The guy who is bringing this to market is the same guy who founded Surgeon Rifles. I would expect the product to be quality, but maybe a bit more niche.
 
What was the objective behind using additive manufacturing over more traditional manufacturing methods for actions? Is there a specific design aspect that you wanted to achieve that couldn't be achieved by more traditional methods?

Seems like a neat innovation, I love seeing advancements from manufacturing methods. But I am genuinely curious as to the question above.

They were specifically supposed to send me a unit (complete with KMW Sentinel and Krieger barrel) for testing. Word was that they were very concerned with what the beer-bellied, country-yokel market segment thought about it.

Consider me disappointed in all parties...

Do you guys x-ray the action after additive manufacturing, there is always a percentage of in-fill that has voids or not sintered.

I think it’s .5-2% depending on a million reasons and random, so it could be spread out or a pocket right behind the lug area. One could actually be power fluctuation.

Race teams xray all Am parts they xray most parts anyway but Am parts go through the process looking for voids in critical areas

I looked into additive manufacturing 2-3 years ago from a company in Georgia. ICMY, leaders in additive manufacturing. They actually plugged right into the high tension wires and then converted on site to reduce power fluctuations. Was great talking to the owner, he was a gun guy so he was in a few of the calls once it got a little more serious

They suggested AM for prototype but since the final dimensions need to be touched up anyway it was still cost effective for regular mill/lathe etc.

I was looking into exotic materials and such so I figured the AM process fit the bill but just not yet. Even looked into barrels but they still had to be cut or a button pulled for final dims.

Love to hear if things changed in the last 2-3 years.
