Has anyone run them in a .243 on smaller predators like coyotes and bobcats?

Im not interested in fur, just wanna make 'em dead.

Any idea on where I should start with a load? I typically use anywhere from 42.5 to 43.3 grains of H4350 with 105 Bergers and DTACs.....but Ive never loaded a lighter hunting bullet for it.

What kind of velocities should I expect?

Thanks.

my lee book shows a small range for h4350, start 46.0 max 47.0 gr., 3350-3420. Try varget 38.0-40.5, or my fav. h4895 36-39.5gr . Everything points to aprox. 3500fps. YMMV. Work up to max, stay safe. Bullets? I haven't tried the 70's yet, 62's vg for pd's, and 87's for coyotes.

That's all I used for years. What I found after I had my .243 rebarreled to a .243AI and pushed that bullet hard was I had the bullet blow apart on impact and I lost a lot of coyotes. I wouldn't push them any harder then 3500 fps. They shoot great, and I still use them in one of my .243's. I have actually moved up to the 87gr. Vmax in the.243AI and have had great success with it. If I remember correctly 36.5 grains of Varget is a nice load.

Ive ran 75 and 65gr V max from a 6mm rem. with 8208XBR I got 3730fps out of the 65s. They take coyotes dows really hard but can really blow them up. Not good on hides. The 87gr V max out of my 6x47L at 3350fps was a real killer and not as bad on furs, It also does well at long range. took them out to 1000! Good luck!

70 TNT is hell on varmints, Varget good choice, H380, 4350 alright but faster powders do tad better. 3500+, even in a 20" as I recall, took a few deer with them fwiw w/head/neck and lung shots.

I used 47.0 of H-4350 with a 70 gr Blitz King and FED 210M in a Lapua case for a velocity of 3400 fps if I remember correctly ( the load is correct). Shot a few coyotes with it, they seem to stiffen up and fall over when hit.

The 70 gr BT groups incredibly well out to 500 yards. My Dad shot a 5-shot 3/4" group at 500. A calm day the stars and moon aligned, whatever, it was a hell of a group.
