I was able to get 150g Etips to shoot well in my friend's Savage in .30-06 with IMR4064 at right around 3000fps. With minimal trouble, with the above combo-I got sub MOA with a sporter weight barrel.
He killed 2 Kentucky whitetails last year with the above load. The first was a high shoulder shot at about 125 yards with full penetration and little bloodshot meat. The second was a double lung shot that ran approximately 20-30 yards with good expansion and nice exit.
Here is a picture of the entrance and exit holes on the second deer that he killed.
He is looking for a volunteer again this weekend to try another bullet. I will again post if he is successful. So far(sample of 2), he feels like the E-Tip kills as fast as cup/cores that he has used in the past, but has alot less bloodshot meat loss.
