A friend of mine gave me some Nosler RDF 140 gr bullets and I wanted to test them on my Tikka 6.5 CM 24" barrel. Nosler recommend .030" off but I've been reading that they like to be jumped longer. I know that every rifle is different but as I don't have enough bullets to test I would really appreciate your opinions for a good starting seating point.
Thanks

That is a pretty good starting point (.030"). Some barrels like it a bit more, but it starts getting crazy (chasing that last little bit of accuracy) in a hurry. If they shoot 1/2MOA, call it good and go shoot (IMHO). These bullets shoot very well.

Thanks. I only have 40 bullets. My load for 140 gr ELD-M is 42.4 gr of IMR 4451 so I will load three charges of 42.2, 42.4 and 42.6 at .020", .025" and .030" to see if I can get something good.

Thanks for your help guys. Got back from the range, from the loads I made 0.030" worked the best, 5 shots group, 0.40" at 100 yards. Hornady brass 2nd fired, CCI #200, 42.5 gr IMR 4451. Now that I know they work on my rifle I'm going to buy 1000 and will do more development. Thanks again.

This is what Nosler told me when i asked :

We tested those at max SAAMI COAL length , which would be more than .050” off in most cases

Thank you
