There is a company that is looking at doing a run of Welrods. They will be Class III and while price has not been set, the numbers being tossed about are $1200 - 1400.

Right now, they are just taking names to gauge interest. But if you might be seriously interested, PM me and I'll send you the company contact info.

I don't have anything to do with them. But a friend and I have been considering making a couple. But if someone is going to produce a run, it's a no brainer.

Last 'original' with an OSS provenance just sold at RIA for something like $25K. I quit at $15k.... so I really want one!

If you want to get on their list and notified when they start taking deposits, drop me a PM and I'll get you the contact.

Cheers,

Are they 32ACP or 9mm?
Both, as I understood the video. I never saw one of these in the flesh, though.

Considering how many of these were built you'd have thunk they might be more spread out among Special Operations troops. I do know of SF guys who saw and trained with these. Then again, that's where our suppressed .45's, 9mm's and .22's all came from.

The replicas are .32.

The Welrods are still in Service in a lot of places.

they have their uses!

Plus Bruegger & Thomet make a absolutely-not-a-Welrod-knockoff absolutely-not-a-pistol... uh, projectile-firing device, the VP9. Which they call a "veterinary pistol" for humanely putting down animals. Which may or may not be a euphemism for assassination.

Greener Humane Cattle Killers have been around for 150 years or so.... and they are for exactly that. Horses, cattle, etc. Used by vets.

True, but the VP9 is pretty explicitly a copy of the Welrod in appearance and design, and is almost certainly intended for more... shall we say, covert operations than actually being used to kill horses or cattle. Especially when a captive bolt pistol is readily available and doesn't need real ammunition, or an NFA registration.

I forgot about that thing. Guess that's why it's on Forgotten Weapons!

Had a friend that was in a Scottish Regiment in the 60s through 70s.

He did not talk much about his time in Ireland but the little bit included being shot and in he mentioned the night clashes that resulted in IRA people being disposed of in trash dumpsters.

Id imagine these had their uses n Northern Ireland.

Do you know roughly the time line? Months or years kinda thing?
No clue. Already have prototypes. My guess is that the more people who say "I want one..." the quicker it will happen.

They are not asking for money, so the risk level is low. If you are interested, I'd send a note and get on the list for info. e-Mail doesn't cost you anything!

PM Me if you want details.
