Rifle Scopes Nx8 vs gen 2 razor?

Trying to decide between the 2.5-20 nx8 milxt and the gen2 razor 4.5-27 ebr7x. I never use more than 20x at a PRS match. More concerned with glass quality and how bright the picture is.

I looked through an NX8 and wasn't impressed. Small eyebox and FOV wasn't the greatest.

As far as glass goes: Razor and its not that close. I actually liked the Razor over the ATACR 5-25 when I looked at them side by side a few years ago.

Razor over the ATACR for me too. I had both at the same time, but at that level it's just nitpicking.

NF is lighter, smaller, illum is brighter, has .5 mil subtended reticle, locking diopter, extra 2x, FFP, easier to turn zoom ring (i.e. does not need anything more than the factory PTL).

Vortex is heavier, better eye box, brighter image, flatter image, non-locking diopter, really needs a throw lever.

Despite the brighter illum on the NX8, I find the Razor better to use for speed on 1x. It's still heavy for what it is, and I find the zoom ring stiffness and thick upper half of the reticle irritating. The NX8 is image is decent until you start moving higher than 6x, at which point the brightness goes and the eyebox tightens dramatically.

Depends on what you want. NX8 has some compromises but does a lot of things well enough.

I think he was asking about the higher power models, not the 1-x. Although I have both of the 1-x and agree with your assessment.

If weight is not a problem then Razor. I went through the same situation earlier and ended up going Razor. And I am a Nightforce fanboy. I couldn’t afford a atacr so those 2 were in my budget area. I couldn’t be any more happy with my decision.

This is comparing apples to oranges. I would compare the NX8 to the AMG or the razor to the ATACR line. Both are excellent scopes but pick one based on desired use.

Like I said IMO vortex is better. I believe glass is clearer don’t have to dial up so much and that way I have a wider view . But as I said IMO not a expert.

Sticking purely to your criteria above the Razor is far superior to the NX8. The Gen II Razor has much better glass and light transmisssion, a larger eybox, wider FOV, and it will perform much better at 20X than the 2.5-20 NF NX8.

However, as noted above, comparing a Razor to an NX8 is apples and oranges, as the Razor is meant to perform at a much higher level than the NX8. For an apples to apples comparison you would need to compare the Razor to the NF ATACR. For what it is worth, I own both the 4.5-27 Razor Gen II and the 5-25 NF ATACR, and if weight is not an issue I choose the Razor over the ATACR everytime.
