I just got an F1 with the MLR reticle since I decided to make the FFP change.

It doesn't look anything like the ones in my SFP NF's, whats the deal? They are very clear and crisp.

It looks very rough and the hash lines are small(even at 15x), indistinct and rough looking, and yes, I focused it properly (several times).

I bought a Falcon 4-14 FFP for my .22 trainer, and the reticle in it is light years ahead of the F1, IMO.

I'm sending it back and I just ordered a 4-16x50 S&B with the P4 ret., hope it's better.

Sorry, rant off!

Re: NXS F1 MLR reticle ????

Yeah that is a change I would make to the scope as well. That said it does work just fine.

You will really like the S&B with the P4 reticle better though as it is easier to see the marks in it.

It really isn't that great under those powers but I very rarely use them that low and would mil with higher. I had heard they are looking to redesign the FFP MLR and if they do that would be good.

You'll be happier with the P4 reticle. I have a P4F in my 4-16 and like it alot. I can see the lines down to 4x.

I can't think of any reason to need to use the mil marks on a reticle at those powers.

The reason you turn down the reticle power is generally for a wider field of view at close range.

At those ranges, my experience has been that if I need to hold off a bit, I can do so relative to the target rather than using the reticle.

Have you had different experience?

Lindy,

I'm just making the change to FFP, so I'm still learning, and may be worried about the wrong things. I'm old enough to know the older I get the less I realize I know!

All I had to compare it with (in FFP) was the Falcon reticle, and I can EASILY use and see even the .5 mil hash marks in it down to 4X.

I've got a dozen or more SFP scopes with either TMR or MLR reticles in them, and it's gonna be a tough change for me to get used to FFP. I just don't see why you would have a reticle you couldn't use and define at any power.

The roughness and unevenness of the reticle (on 15X) also bothered me, it looked like the old stamped wire reticles Burris used for so long (and still may, the only Burris's I have now are some 15+ year old Burris pistol scopes).

My thoughts may change as I start shooting them some.

Thanks for the input!
